About the Journal

Focus and Scope

The Online Journal of Public Health Informatics (OJPHI) is a leading peer-reviewed, open access journal dedicated to the dissemination of high-quality research and innovation in the field of public health informatics. OJPHI aims to promote the application of informatics to improve public health research, education and policy. We welcome original research articles, reviews, and perspectives/viewpoints that cover a broad range of topics related to public health informatics, including:

  • Use of health information and communication technology (ICT) to improve public health, disease prevention, and health promotion
  • Development and implementation of electronic health records and other health information systems by public health agencies
  • Framework, evaluation, and use of health information exchange technologies between public health agencies, hospitals, and clinics
  • Use of data analytics (including AI, machine learning, geographic information system and data mining  technologies) in public health research and practice
  • Use of social media in public and population health informatics applications for health promotion and disease prevention
  • Evaluation of mobile health technology and digital platforms in public health practice
  • Integration of Social Determinants of Health within public health practice using (ICT)
  • Ethical, legal, and social implications of public health informatics

OJPHI seeks to promote interdisciplinary collaboration and welcomes contributions from researchers and practitioners from a wide range of fields, including public health, computer science, data science, health informatics, and related disciplines. The target audience includes public health practitioners, researchers, educators, policymakers, and other stakeholders interested in the intersection of health and technology.
